CRM stands for Customer Relationship Management, which is a combination of strategies, practices, and technologies that companies use to manage and analyze customer data and interactions. The goal of CRM is to: improve customer service relationships, assist with customer retention, and drive sales growth.

There are three types of CRM: 

  • Analytical
    Uses data as the foundation of the platform. This type of CRM collects data about customer interactions to increase customer satisfaction and retention rates. 
  • Operational
    Based around automating workload. This type of CRM provides tools for data collection, loyalty programs, and real-time communication with clients. 
  • Collaborative
    Breaks down silos and helps different teams collaborate better to handle customer relationships. This type of CRM offers features for cross-departmental communication, data sharing, and workflow automation. 

CRM systems can help businesses: 

  • Create and track campaigns 
  • Segment customers based on their preferences and previous buying behavior 
  • Compare the performance of different campaigns 
  • Unite and streamline sales, marketing, and customer support activities 
  • Create more relevant and personalized conversations with prospects
